Sustainable Challenge for Packaging
Highlights
Under the concept of “Sustainable Challenge for Packaging,” we will primarily focus on recycling, while also showcasing renewable resources.
For recycling, which is the core, we will propose a series of flows from packaging suitable for recycling as the entry point, through technologies related to recycling as the process, to recycled materials as the exit point. Specifically, the entry point includes mono-material packaging and top-seal packaging suitable for recycling. The process involves compatibilizers and blockchain platforms for traceability management as recycling technologies. The exit point introduces materials and initiatives for mechanical and chemical recycling. For mono-materials, we propose PE resin suitable for printing substrates, configurations to improve barrier properties, and plastic reduction in conjunction with mono-materialization. Through the provision of these materials and initiatives, we aim to contribute to the construction of a circular economy.
For renewables, we will exhibit biomass materials and paper packaging as renewable resources. Regarding biomass materials and paper packaging, we will introduce content that considers not only carbon neutrality but also the circular economy. For biomass materials, we will introduce the concept of “Kitchen 2 Kitchen,” which incorporates the perspective of biomass related to food, in addition to the supply system of adhesive resins using the segregation method and resins combined with chemically recycled materials using the mass balance method. For paper packaging, we will propose oil-resistant paper coatings that are PFAS-free, as well as recyclable paper cups and flexible paper packaging, aiming to contribute to the construction of a circular economy through paper packaging as well.
